Our Eggs:
If you are what you eat, and you want what is best for your body, get it fresh!
Our eggs are collected and packed fresh daily. We do not claim to have caged free or free range eggs- you can actually see the chickens out in the yard when you stop by to get a dozen or three. Our flock is made up pure bred chickens such as Marans and Legbars, as well as a few mixed breeds such as Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers. My hens are retired when they are done with laying eggs, we do not eat them. And quite a few are named and have played in the house with my children(the chickens where "diapers" made specifically for them, which keeps things sanitary). Healthy chickens are happy chickens, and ours are happy. We see this every morning when we let them out of their coop.
We are also certified by the Ohio Department of Agriculture to sell eggs from our home. The cleaning and packaging area is certified yearly to verify the level of sanitation your food needs(and deserves!).

Our ChicksWe are concerned about the health of todays poultry and wish to make a positive impact on the present and future of it. We participate in the State program for this purpose. We maintain a certified flock through The National Poultry Improvement Project(NPIP). Our flock is inspected and has blood testing yearly.
We both hatch our own chicks and purchase them from others who also are members of this program. When you get our chicks, know that we have your best interests in mind. Unlike hatcheries, we keep any chicks that we do not sell, and add them to our own flock. Again, we do retire our chickens when their productive lives are over. Many times to local families who just want a pet that will occasionally provide them with a nice few eggs for breakfast! |
Our FlockWe have a well rounded flock that is made up mostly of brown, blue and green egg layers. Most of the flock is pure bred. We have Marans, Cream Legbars, Salmon Faverolles, Blue Ameraucanas, and many others. Again, we are NPIP certified. We do not bring in outside birds from anyone who does not have this certification. We can not say that our birds are never medicated, as we do treat them when they suffer illness. We can say that we very seldom have to treat them! We do our very best to keep illness away by maintaining healthy living conditions and a healthy environment. We let our flock out everyday to get fresh air and sunshine. We close their coop after the flock comes in at night. The only time we cage our birds is when roosters have to go somewhere for a time-out when they squabble. When they are done, they go right back into the flock. We do not tolerate mean roosters. We are a family farm, and bad roosters get new homes with a flock that needs a more aggressive guardian. This translates to any birds you may get from us come from genes with less aggressive tendencies. We appreciate a calm flock.
